Using I and me: what you learned

The word “I” is always a capital letter. The word “me” is not.

The cover-up test

When another person is in the sentence, cover them up and read what is left.

“Ava and ___ walked home.” becomes “___ walked home.” Nobody says “Me walked home”, so the answer is “I”.

“Leo waved at Ava and ___.” becomes “Leo waved at ___.” Nobody says “Leo waved at I”, so the answer is “me”.

Three things to keep straight

Come with I.	Come with me. Small words like with are followed by me.
